ZAGREB, March 26 (Hina) - The Croat brotherhood "Bokelj navy 809"
on Tuesday sent a letter to the Croatian Foreign Minister Mate
Granic, asking that the Croatian Foreign Ministry and the
Government launch an initiative for the demilitarization of the
Boka Kotorska region, on an appropriate international level.
The political and legal foundation for such an initiative can
be found in Resolution 1038 of the U.N. Security Council, which
calls for the demilitarization of the Prevlaka peninsula, the
letter said.
The brotherhood felt that the Croatian Government should make
another, firmer effort to reach a complete peaceful solution, with
the help of important international factors. This solution
should include "mutual demilitarization of the Prevlaka area, as a
part of the Croatian state territory, and the Boka Kotorska
region."
"We hold that Boka Kotorska has always been part of the
Croatian cultural whole and this fact should not be called into
question", said the letter, signed by the brotherhood's president,
Zvonimir Janovic, and vice president Jasna A. Petrovic.
