TRANFER OF AUTHORITY PROCEEDS AS PLANNED - IFOR

SARAJEVO, 2 March (Hina) - The transfer of authority in Sarajevo suburbs would continue according to previously agreed schedule, said on Saturday IFOR spokesman Brigadier Andrew Cummings. According to that schedule, the police of the Federation Bosnia-Herzegovina should enter the area of Hadzici on 6 March. Seven days later Ilidza would also be entirely restored to the Federation, which would result in complete lifting of blockade on the main road linking Sarajevo and Mostar. As the last stage, the federal police would enter Grbavica and go on with the transfer of authority on 19 March. Cummings stated that 27 international policemen had been sent to Hadzici to control the situation in the area. He added that so far no major incidents had been recorded in the suburbs where the Bosnian police had entered earlier. Commenting on the indictment of the Serb General Djordje Djukic, Cummings stressed it was a legal decision of The Hague Tribunal which had to be respected by both the federal and the Bosnian Serb authorities.
