MOSTAR, Feb 26 (Hina) - Commenting on the resignation of the EU
Administrator of Mostar Hans Koschnik, the Mayor of the western
(Croat-held) part of Mostar, Mijo Brajkovic, Monday said that
"after all that has happened in Mostar and in the whole of
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Koschnik decided that it was the best thing
to do". #L#
Brajkovic expressed his belief that reasons for Koschnik's
resignation could not be sought only in the situation in Mostar,
but in the whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina. "Koschnik probably had
information about all that was going on ," Brajkovic said, adding
that problems did not occur only in Mostar, but in the whole of
Bosnia-Herzegovina. Koschnik had been exposed to various
pressures, Brajkovic said, adding that "western interests are
completely different from the situation in Mostar where Koschnik
has been living for almost two years".
EU Spokesman in Mostar Dragan Basic said that "the European
Administration expresses its regret concerning Koschnik's
resignation, but it also understands the reasons behind it".
Gasic added that the EU Ministerial Council on Monday did
not accept the suggestion that the EU Administration mandate in
Mostar be prolonged until the end of the year.
