BOSNIAN SERB LEADERS RESPONSIBLE FOR MASS EVACUATION

SARAJEVO, Feb 25 (Hina) - NATO and United Nations relief officials were at odds Sunday about letting Bosnian Serb military trucks back into demilitarized areas of the capital to evacuate Serbs before the Muslim-Croat federation takes over. Chief commander of the NATO-led Bosnian peace Implementation Force (IFOR), Admiral Leighton Smith, agreed to allow the military to enter the northern suburb of Vogosca, in order to step-up the evacuation. But the officials rebuffed the accusations that they were actually facilitating the resettlement, organized by Bosnian Serb leaders at Pale. "The problem in Vogosca has not arisen due to bad conduct of the federal police, but because of the widespread paranoia among the local people," spokesman for the U.N. High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Kris Janowski said. "The Serbs in Vogosca are speaking what they hear from the 'Ministry of Truth' at Pale, discarding the facts," he added.
