MOSTAR, Feb 20 (Hina) - Bosnian Croat defence officials on Tuesday
called on Bosnian Moslem military and civilian leaders to put a
stop to incidents similar to those that occurred in two towns in
central Bosnia on Monday.
Herzeg-Bosnia's Defence Ministry said in a statement that
Moslem-led Bosnian army and police forces on Monday blocked the
Vares-Dastansko road, 50 km north of Sarajevo, and cut off power
supply to Dastankso.
Two members of the Croat Defence Council (HVO) were beaten on
the road while Ljubo Kasapovic, a member of the Vares Municipal
Council, was taken to the Vares police station where he was
maltreated and expelled to Kiseljak, about 30 km west of Sarajevo,
the statement said.
"It is not the first time that members of the Army and Police
of Bosnia-Herzegovina have treated Croats in such a way in defiance
of the Dayton Agreement, increasing the feeling of unsafety and
fear of the Croat population. Such actions cannot restore
confidence between the two peoples.
"Once again we call on the highest military and civilian
officials of the Moslem people to use their authority to put a stop
to such incidents," the statement concluded.
