Deputy head of the Government Office for the Temporary
Administration for the Establishment of Croatian Authorities in
Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srijem, Mirko Tankosic, who
led the Croatian side to the meeting, told Hina that the event took
place following a meeting of Red Cross representatives from the
liberated and occupied Croatian areas.
He added that local Serb officials were dissatisfied with news
coverage of the last such reunion, while the Croatian side insisted
that the event and its preparations be open to the public,
including presence of Serb reporters.
The next meeting is to take place on 22 February at the same
checkpoint. The Croatian delegation again insisted that future
reunions be organized in Osijek, Vukovar, Vinkovci, Beli Manastir
and other Croatian towns.
