department in the United Nations Transitional Administration in
Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES), a statement from the Defence Ministry

Schoups was accompanied by the Belgian Ambassador to Croatia,
Frans Hintjens and the commander of the Belgian contingent in
eastern Slavonia, Brigadier General Peeters.
Ambassador Hintjens informed Minister Susak about U.N. plans
aimed at establishing the UNTAES command as well as about Major
General Schoup's nomination for the post of commander.
One of the topics at the talks was also the composition of
UNTAES forces and police force. Croatia welcomed any activity aimed
at peaceful reintegration of eastern Slavonia, Minister Susak said,
adding Croatia was ready to offer assistance to UNTAES members in
carrying out their duties.
