GENEVA, Jan 24 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic and the Croatian permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, Miomir Zuzul, Wednesday met the general director of the UN office in Geneva, Vladimir Petrovski, for a
ceremonial opening of the Croatian chamber in the Palais des Nations. The chamber was opened as Croatia's contribution to marking the 50th anniversary of the World Organization.
GENEVA, Jan 24 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic and
the Croatian permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, Miomir
Zuzul, Wednesday met the general director of the UN office in
Geneva, Vladimir Petrovski, for a ceremonial opening of the
Croatian chamber in the Palais des Nations. The chamber was opened
as Croatia's contribution to marking the 50th anniversary of the
World Organization. #L#
The Croatian diplomats and the UN official talked about the
relations between the UN and Croatia and about the current
political situation in Croatia that is expecting from the UN
Secretary-General to decide on the dispatching of troops to eastern
Slavonia, Baranja and western Sirmium.
The Croatian chamber is one of official rooms in the Palais
des Nations for meetings. It is decorated by works of arts of
Croatian artists.
Minister Granic symbolically handed the room over to Petrovski
at the ceremony.
A Croatian opera singer, Ruza Pospis Baldani, accompanied by a
pianist Vladimir Kranjcevic, and the Croatian Radio and Television
'tamburica' orchestra performed a concert during the ceremony.
The outgoing Croatian representative to the UN in Geneva,
Miomir Zuzul who is appointed to be Ambassador to the United
States, also gave a farewell reception.
