ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Wednesday received the chief of the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Robert Frowick, the Presidential Office said in a statement.
Frowick informed the President about his impressions
regarding the implementation of the Dayton accords, drawing
special attention to the return of refugees, elections and the
resolution of Mostar's status.
Tudjman agreed that the international community was faced
with a singularly complex situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina because
of the presence of different civilizations there.
The President reiterated Croatia's willingness to use its
positive political influence and provide practical assistance in
search of a final solution to the problem of Mostar's
administrative organization.
Should the negotiations on Mostar fail, Croatia would
support international arbitration and accept its results, Tudjman
said, adding that Mostar presented a great but not the main
problem to the functioning of the Bosnian Federation.
The President said that fundamental problems were the
establishment of the governments of the Federation and Republic
of Bosnia-Herzegovina and their cantonal organization in
compliance with the Dayton accords, which should be a
precondition for holding elections.
Also attending were Swiss Ambassador to Croatia Petar
Troendle, Head of the Croatian President's Cabinet Gordan Radin,
Deputy Presidential Chief of Staff Vesna Skare Ozbolt, and
Assistant Foreign Minister Hidajet Biscevic, the statement
concluded.
