ZAGREB, Jan 16 (Hina) - The Zagreb daily VJESNIK devotes most of
the front page to a report from a session of the Upper House of
Parliament on the national budget for 1996.
Both dailies, VECERNJI LIST and VJESNIK run commentaries on
U.N. Security Council Resolutions 1037 and 1038. VJESNIK details
UNSC Resolution 1037 on the UNTAES operation in Eastern Slavonia.
According to editorialist Kresimir Fijacko, "this is the first time
that the Security Council has been so explicit, clear and
determined about the reintegration of Eastern Slavonia."
The VECERNJI LIST covers the same issue under the heading
"Croatia's return to the Danube."
The same daily runs a comment piece in which the author,
Visnja Staresina, says that starting from scratch and without
prejudice in the human rights inquiry in the region of former
Yugoslavia, seems like a nice notion, but the author also warns of
the possibility of crimes.
In VECERNJI LIST, Bosnian Deputy Prime Minister Jadranko
Prlic, assesses that the successful cooperation between Bosnian
Croat Forces (HVO) and the Bosnian Army, is possible after all.
"How to Stop the Time" is the heading of an article about how
Serbs regard the Dayton agreement, mainly when it comes to the
decision on surrendering the occupied parts of Sarajevo.
