The Government also adopted the Bill on Flat Renting.
Construction and Housing Minister Marina Dropulic-Matulovic said
that the Bill would revoke tenancy rights while the persons living
in flats which would be returned to former owners would have the
right to remain in those flats for ten years and pay protected rent
in that period.
At today's session the Government also adopted the Bill on the
Expiry of the 1996 Census Act. The Bill had been accepted on
September 20, 1995 and under the Bill, a census was to be carried
out at the end of April 1996. The Government holds that due to
certain changes in the system of local self-government and state
administration conditions for an April census have not been
created. For that reason the Government proposed that the 1996
Census Act be declared no longer valid.
