The visit could take place in the next several days, McCurry
said, but refused the possibility of the visit taking place this
weekend.
President Clinton should visit Bosnia-Herzegovina before his
address to the nation, scheduled for January 23 in Washington.
Clinton would like to meet U.S. soldiers in Bosnia-Herzegovina
as well as military commanders in order to get closer information
about the deployment of forces and the extent to which the factions
in Bosnia-Herzegovina were observing the Dayton peace agreement,
McCurry added.
Asked about possible meetings with the Croatian President
Franjo Tudjman or Bosnia's Alija Izetbegovic, McCurry said that so
far he had nothing to say on that issue.
It would be a short visit and a small delegation, McCurry
said, refusing to specify whether it would be a one-day visit.
He also refused to comment on the details of the visit because
of security reasons.
