ZAGREB, Dec 10 (Hina) - Croatian publishers Barbat were given an
award by the Italian foreign ministry for their translation of
"History of the Italians" from Italian into Croatian.
The Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Francesco Olivieri, presented
the award on Wednesday.
It was given by the National Commission for the Promotion of Italian
Culture, Olivieri said.
"Both the award for the translation of Giuliano Procacci's book and
the Italian president's upcoming visit to Croatia reflect the
spirit of friendship which connects our two countries", the
ambassador said.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the publishing house, Vladimir
Stokalo said that Barbat was considering to publish "History of
Venice", as well as other books about Italian culture and history.
Damir Grubisa, translator and editor of "History of the Italians",
hoped the book would contribute to a better understanding of
Italy's past.
