LOCAL ELECTIONS BEING REPEATED IN ONE COUNTY, FOUR TOWNS AND SEVEN MUNICIPALITIES

SEVEN MUNICIPALITIES ( Editorial: --> 4766 ) ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) - Local elections are to be repeated on Sunday for Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, town authorities of Pregrada, Orahovica, Makarska and Vis and for municipal bodies of Nerežišć, Tucepi, Gradac, Lanisce, Viskovo, Jelenje and Vinodolski municipalities. There are a total of 316,237 eligible voters in these areas who will be able to cast their ballots at 433 polling stations. They can go to polls from 07.00 am to 07.00 pm Sunday. First election returns may be expected shortly after the midnight. The elections for authorities of Primorje-Gorski Kotar (Rijeka) County, four towns and seven municipalities should be repeated according to a decision of the Croatian government, as local authorities in those areas failed to be established following the April local elections in Croatia. The vote will be held by the a combination of the proportional representation and first-past-the-post system, and the same combination was used for the April elections. There are 655,000 ballots printed for the repeated elections. Although the Government called again elections in the municipality of Cviljane, southeast of Knin, they will not be held there, because not a single political party, coalition or independent candidate has nominated to stand for the elections in this municipality.
