VUKOVAR, Oct 11 (Hina) - Businessmen from Europe, Asia and the
United States who took part in the October 9-10 "Doing Business
in Croatia" conference in Zagreb, on Saturday toured the Croatian
Danube river area that is under the UN Transitional
Administration (UNTAES).
In Vukovar, Croatian Chamber of Commerce representatives
and UNTAES officials notified them of opportunities of investment
in this part of eastern Croatia.
After the Vukovar meeting, an assistant to the Chamber of
Commerce President, Branko Gracanin, told reporters that the
talks had revolved chiefly around projects of reconstruction of
infrastructure, houses and buildings.
Foreign investors look for profitable projects, and we want
investment rather than aid and donations, Gracanin said.
He explained that "it will be difficult to reconstruct and
develop the area without foreign investment."
After the meeting the foreign businessmen visited some
firms and facilities that are being renovated.
