SPLIT, Oct 1 (Hina) - The name of the famous Croatian physicist,
mathematician, astronomer, philosopher and diplomat, Rudjer
Boskovic, (1711 - 1787) will stand on a plaque which will be put on
the Paris hotel 'Mirabeau' building, in memory of Boskovic's two-
year stay in France, where he came at the invitation of the French
King Louis XV.
The lines on the plaque also mention Boskovic's Croatian
origins and Dubrovnik, his birthplace.
This is the first time a plaque bearing the name of a great
Croat in a text written in both Croatian and French is put at a
building in Paris.
The putting of the plaque was organised by the Association of
Former Croatian Alumni (AMCA), who live in France and whose
representatives on Wednesday visited Split and informed the
president of the French-Croat Society in Split about the event.
