PLASKI, Sept 25 (Hina) - Municipal authorities in Plaski, about 100
km south of Zagreb, said on Thursday that 1,472 Serb refugees had
returned to the Plaski area until the end of August.
They said that 818 Serbs had returned as part of a two-way
return process organised by the Croatian government office for
displaced persons and refugees and the UN Transitional
Administration in the Danube river region of eastern Croatia.
About 100 Serbs remained in the Plaski area following a
Croatian military operation which had crushed the Serb rebellion in
the summer of 1995, while 594 returned on their own initiative or
through the UNHCR.
Over 2,000 Bosnian Croat refugees are currently living in the
Plaski area.
