ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - Croatia's agency for mediation in real-
estate transactions (APN) said in a statement on Wednesday that
in the eastern town of Vukovar under the UN Transitional
Administration (UNTAES) it signed sales contracts with people who
submitted requests for the sale of their houses in western
Slavonia.
At present the owners of those houses are living in houses
of displaced Croatians in the UNTAES-controlled area, and do not
want to return to their houses in western Slavonia.
According to the statement, the conclusion of such
contracts is in line with the two-way return of the displaced and
refugees.
The agency has said it accepts contracts only after owners
of houses to be sold could not find prospective buyers on the
market and that the price is imposed by the market.
Wednesday's statement has not said how many contracts have
been signed in Vukovar today.
