According to the head of polling station "J. J. Strossmayer",
Niko Andabak, around 6,000 voters had been registered at the
station, with about 1,000 having voted in the morning on Saturday.
Andabak stressed that a number of Croat people from certain
parts of municipalities which had been divided by the border between
entities, could not vote. Municipal councils had not been
established in these parts of municipalities, so voting is not
possible for such places.
Voters from parts of these municipalities were writing
complaints which would be forwarded to the OSCE and Croatian
Government Office for Refugees and Displaced Persons, Andabak said.
The government's office for displaced persons issued a
statement Saturday saying that voting in most locations in Croatia
was being done without problems, with a good turnout of voters, and
some polling stations witnessed a real crowd.
OSCE representatives expressed satisfaction with the voting
process so far at polling stations in Zagreb, although they had not
been authorised to give out official statements.
Sixty-three polling stations were opened in Croatia and a
polling station in Knin was opened at 13:00 hours, after OSCE
delivered the missing ballots.
At certain locations, ballots were still missing, but the OSCE
had pledged to deliver them to all polling stations by the end of
the day, the statement said.
