NEW YORK, Sept 4 (Hina) - The following is the text of a joint
statement released upon the establishment of diplomatic relations
between Croatia and Israel on Thursday:
"Today, 4 September 1997, diplomatic relations between the
Republic of Croatia and the State of Israel were established. The
Protocol for the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations was signed
by Ambassador Ivan Simonovic, Permanent Representative of the
Republic of Croatia to the United Nations in New York, and
Ambassador Dore Gold, Permanent Representative of the State of
Israel to the United Nations in New York, at the premises of the
Permanent Mission of the State of Israel to the UN, New York.
"Following the signing of the Protocol, and in regard to
the practical aspects of implementation of the Protocol, the two
delegations agreed that the accreditation of their diplomatic
representatives will follow.
"The two delegations concurred that cooperation between the
two States has been developing in a satisfactory manner and they
expressed their readiness and commitment to broaden their field
of cooperation."
