DUBROVNIK, Aug 25 (Hina) - A project on tourist development
possibilities of Croatia's southern-most peninsula of Ostro,
including the demobilized Prevlaka, Croatia's UN-monitored tip
bordering with Montenegro, was presented in Dubrovnik on Sunday
evening.
Attending the presentation of the Croatian government-
ordered project were Croatian Deputy Foreign Minister Neven
Madey, the president of the Croatian State Commission for
Borders, Hrvoje Kacic, Croatian Tourism Minister Niko Bulic, U.S.
Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith, the commander of the
Croatian Navy, Vice Admiral Vid Stipetic, the commander of the
Croatian Army's Fourth District Major General Milivoj Petkovic,
numerous Dubrovnik County residents and Prefect Jure Buric.
The project, presented by author Stijepo Butijer, envisages
the building of a tourist complex with a marina, as well as other
catering, entertainment and recreation facilities.
With a project on Prevlaka's tourist development, Croatia
demonstrated it had only peaceful intentions, said Deputy Foreign
Minister Madey.
"We want good neighbourly relations with all our
neighbours, including Yugoslavia", Madey said, adding the
precondition for the tourist development of Ostro and Prevlaka
was the completion of discussions between commissions for borders
of Croatia and Yugoslavia.
Croatia pointed out it would not discuss alterations to the
borderline on several occasions in the past, Madey said, but it
was willing to talk about all issues of importance to the
security of both countries in the area in question.
"Croatia has none other than peaceful intentions in this
region", the deputy foreign minister concluded.
