VINKOVCI, 22 Aug (Hina) - The municipal council of Bogdanovci (in
the U.N.-administered area) on Friday held a session in Vinkovci
warning that the process of return of agricultural land in
Bogdanovci to its owners should be accelerated. #L#
An illegal agricultural cooperative is operating in the
area of Bogdanovci, a completely destroyed village in the UNTAES-
administered part of Vukovar-Srijem County. The cooperative
tends all agricultural land, regardless whether it is state-owned
or private.
It is necessary to enable the real owners, mostly displaced
people to take over their property of which they once lived.
Members of the Bogdanovci municipal council said that the
building which temporarily houses the municipal headquarters in
the nearby village of Petrovci still bears the plaque of the non-
existent republic of Serb krajina while the plaque bearing
Croatian symbols has been removed for the second time. They added
that UNTAES would be asked to protect the plaque with Croatian
symbols.
Before the war, Bogdanovci had 1,115 residents, mostly
Croats. Today, the village is one of the most destroyed
places in Croatia and no one lives in it.
