OSIJEK, Aug 21 (Hina) - The bodies of 17 persons, believed to be
civilians and soldiers who had gone missing in October and
November 1991, were exhumed on Thursday from a cemetery in Bilje,
a town in the UN-administered Danube river region of eastern
Croatia.
The bodies were transferred to the Clinical Hospital in
Osijek for identification which is due to begin on Friday,
Croatian government commissioner for missing persons Ante Kuic
said.
The exhumation, coordinated by the Government Commission
for Imprisoned and Missing Persons, was conducted in the presence
of representatives of the ministries of defence, internal
affairs, health and justice as well as forensic experts.
