PARLIAMENT VICE PRESIDENT MEETS FAMILIES OF MISSING PERSONS

ZAGREB, Aug 20 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament vice president Jadranka Kosor met representatives of the federation of associations of families of imprisoned and missing Croatian soldiers in Zagreb on Wednesday for talks on the marking of mass graves and problems in tracing missing persons. Kosor said that a public tender would be opened this autumn for designing monuments in line with the law on marking the mass grave sites from the Homeland War. The families of missing persons demanded that more funds be earmarked to step up the process of identification of victims. Expressing dissatisfaction over the fact that many missing persons were still unaccounted for, they requested a meeting with President Franjo Tudjman to present to him all problems faced by their organisation. Responding to their remarks, Kosor said that the Government Commission for Imprisoned and Missing Persons was working according to schedule, asking them for patience. Kosor said that work in the Croatian Danube region would be easier after the departure of UNTAES from the area.
