SPLIT, Aug 12 (Hina) - A concert of a famous tenor, Placido Domingo,
was held in the Croatian coastal city of Split on Tuesday evening.
The concert of this world-known opera singer, held under the
sponsorship of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman, has been a part of
cultural events organised by city authorities in order to mark
1700th anniversary of Split.
Besides Domingo, a famous Croatian conductor Vjekoslav Sutej,
Bulgarian and Croatian opera singers Svetlana Vassileva and Boris
Martinovic respectively, and the Split-based Croatian National
Theatre (HNK) choir and orchestra took part in the concert.
Present at the concert were 4160 spectators, exactly how many
people can be on the stands set up at the city's central square of
'Prokurativa'. Two big screens were also placed on Split's
waterfront so that other citizens who did not manage to buy tickets
could watch the concert in this way.
The stage was designed by an artist, Matko Trebotic.
