HONG KONG, Aug 12 (Hina) - Croatia's electric equipment
manufacturer Koncar signed an agreement with the Malaysian
company Zanwa in Kuala Lumpur last week on the sale of a licence
for the manufacturing of power transformers.
The signing ceremony was also attended by representatives
of Siemens, which became a majority owner of the Zagreb factory
"Koncar Energy Transformers" in 1995, senior Malaysian government
officials and the Croatian ambassador to Kuala Lumpur.
"The agreement on the transfer of technology for the
manufacturing of large power transformers is strategically
important because it promotes Koncar not only in Malaysia,"
Koncar director general Vjekoslav Srb told Hina.
Under Koncar's licence and under the supervision of its
experts, Zanwa will build a factory of large, 30-240MW energy
transformers, which will be the first factory of that kind in
Malaysia.
The technology has been developed in the Koncar Energy
Transformers factory and is a result of the 40-year-long work of
Koncar experts. Transformers manufactured in Koncar plants in
Croatia have been delivered to more than 50 countries, including
Malaysia.
Zanwa director general Zainal Abidin did not hide his
satisfaction and optimism at the signing ceremony. "The first
order worth DM 9 million has already arrived," he told Hina.
