TRAVNIK, Aug 6 (Hina) - Representatives of Central Bosnian Canton
and international organisations that are working in Bosnia-
Herzegovina, on Wednesday held talks in Sarajevo on
implementation of an agreement on the return of refugees to Jajce
and other Central Bosnian cantonal municipalities. The agreement
on the return was reached in the Bosnian capital on Tuesday by
senior officials of Bosnian Croat-Moslem Federation and Central
Bosnian Canton.
Wednesday's meeting, chaired by Edward Joseph, the head of
the Mostar-based OSCE regional office, concluded that cantonal
authorities and responsible cantonal institutions showed full
readiness to implement the Sarajevo deal completely.
It was agreed that Central Bosnian Canton, in cooperation
with local authorities in Travnik, would ensure premises for the
office of the federal ombudsman and that each of international
organisations, in particular the UNHCR and the international
police of IPTF, would draw their plans for participation in a
process of the return of all refugees to the canton.
To this purpose, on Friday (August 8), a commission,
determined by the agreement, would hold a session to organise and
implement the return of refugees in acceptable stages.
Central Bosnian Canton's head, Ivan Saric, said at the
meeting that he maintained that the complete implementation of
the agreement's provision on the establishment of the cantonal
police was most important. Saric asked the international
community to give support to the establishment of the cantonal
judiciary as soon as possible to which Moslem (Bosniak) partners
had not yet consented.
