ZAGREB, July 29 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament's foreign affairs
committee expressed support to the Government in its work regarding
cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, the committee's head, Zarko Domljan,
said at the end of the extraordinary session on Tuesday.
"Croatia will continue cooperating with the Hague Tribunal, but, as a
sovereign subject of international law, the country cannot accept subpoena
(duces tecum) as a way of communication," Domljan said.
He added that the Croatian Government would provide the Tribunal
with documentation that did not threaten the national security, as his country
had done so far.
Foreign Minister Mate Granic who had submitted a report to the
committee before its debate, said after the session that he was pleased with
conclusions the committee made, and added that they reflected the stand of
the Croatian Government on the cooperation with the International War
Crimes Tribunal.
"Croatia does not accept subpoena, as it does not want that the
precedent be created on Croatia, but it will continue actively cooperating
with the Hague Tribunal," Granic said and added that there were some new
moments, and a group of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Croats was ready to appear
before the Tribunal if they were guaranteed fair trial and its speedy
beginning within three months at the latest.
Asked whether Dario Kordic was included in the group, the Croatian
Foreign Minister replied that as far as he knew "Kordic has not expressed
this wish yet."
