SARAJEVO, July 15 (Hina) - Telephone lines between two Bosnia-
Herzegovina's entities should be restored by the end of August, a
spokesman for the office of international community's High
Representative, Duncan Bullivant, said on Tuesday.
Bullivant added that as of today (July 15) decisions made at the
Sintra conference began to be implemented.
The final document of Portugal's conference says that until 15 July
works on integration of telephone systems that exist in Bosnia should
begin, being financially and technically backed by the European Union.
At the moment things were going in the right direction, Bullivant
said.
Sarajevo's "Dnevni avaz" newspaper said on Tuesday that entire
equipment necessary for the linking of telephone systems had already
been in the Bosnian capital, waiting for the completion of customs
procedures.
The Bosnian Serb entity did not accept a single code for Bosnia-
Herzegovina, and calls for towns in that part of Bosnia will be ensured
by a code for Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia/Montenegro).
Bosnian Croat-Moslem Federation's officials express doubt about
justification for linking telephone services between the two entities in
the way how the EU has proposed. They have said this way would only
cement the situation that has been a result of the war and that it will
be more logical to make existent but cut underground cables operational
rather than investing into new facilities.
