VINKOVCI, June 23 (Hina) - Vukovar-Sirmium County Prefect Rudolf Koenig,
on Monday held talks with municipal heads and mayors from the UNTAES-
controlled parts of the county. Present at the talks, held in eastern
Croatian town of Vinkovci, was Marek Kasprazyk, an official at the
UNTAES department for civilian affairs for Vukovar-Sirmium County, the
Prefect's office said in a statement.
Kasprazyk informed the meeting of the new organisation of the
UNTAES, the aim of which is to connect the UNTAES-controlled Croatian
area with other parts of the country.
Kasprazyk's office is housed in the County Hall in Vinkovci, in
order to facilitate administrational activities and to connect, in a
better manner, county authorities with the UNTAES. He also informed that
the traffic of cars with Croatian licence plates in the UNTAES-
controlled area was running with no difficulty.
In the UNTAES-controlled areas of the county, panels will be
held in coming days to notify the settlers of the way how they can
exercise their rights concerning the stay or the return to places where
they lived until 1991.
Kasprazyk said that Serb authorities in some municipalities did not
know the Croatian legislation, and local residents were not informed of
ways how to sell agricultural surplus.
Prefect Koenig announced that weekly meetings of this kind
would be held at which all questions regarding local self-government
functioning could be discussed, according to the statement.
