UMAG, 16 June (Hina) - Representatives of Croatian and Slovene border
municipalities from Istria met in Umag, on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by the Croatian Ambassador to
Slovenia, Ivica Mastruko, Slovene Ambassador to Croatia, Matija Malesic,
Croatian MPs Damir Kajin, Ivan Jakovcic and Dino Debeljuh and a Slovene
MP, Aurelije Jurij.
The two sides discussed the Agreement on Border Traffic and
Cooperation between Croatia and Slovenia, which was signed by the
Croatian and Slovene Foreign Ministers Mate Granic and Zoran Thaler in
April this year.
It was said at the meeting that the agreement was a big step
forward in the Croatian-Slovene relations but it did not take into
account some special characteristics of Istria.
MP Ivan Jakovcic proposed that a working group consisting of
parliament representatives and representatives of local authorities be
founded, with the aim of institutionalising cooperation along the
Croatian-Slovene border.
The two sides also discussed health system, traffic and tourism.
