ZAGREB, June 12 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament President Vlatko Pavletic
on Thursday received Mile Dedakovic, Alenka Mirkovic-Nadj and Davor
Runtic, authors of the book "Battle For Vukovar", and the manager of
"Vinkovacke jeseni", the publishing house which issued the book,
Branimir Popovic.
Dedakovic, commander of Vukovar's defense, said "Battle For
Vukovar" tried to say what was going on in the autumn of 1991, when the
eastern Croatian town was under siege by the Serb-dominated Yugoslav
Peoples' Army. The book shows that all known military rules and the war
doctrine failed in Vukovar, he said.
Hina's war correspondent Runtic said the aim while writing the book
was to corroborate Dedakovic's data with witnesses' accounts. The book
also used some Serb texts which reveal numerous details surrounding the
battle for Vukovar, he added.
