Croatian parliament speaker receives Slovak PM

Autor: mses
ZAGREB, Sept 26 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic on Monday received Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova who pledged that her country's parliament would be among the first to ratify Croatia's treaty of accession with the European Union.

Croatia's admission to the EU should not be a topic for disputes between those in power and the Opposition, as none of them will benefit from that, while citizens will certainly be affected, Radicova was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Croatian parliament after her meeting with Bebic.

The Croatian parliament head thanked Slovakia for the support it had offered to his country during the accession negotiations and expressed confidence that the two countries would deepen their relations as members of the EU.

Bebic also requested Slovakia's cooperation in securing a part of funds for a project to build a cultural centre of ethnic Slovaks in the northeastern Croatian town of Nasice in accordance with a 1995 agreement on cultural, educational, scientific and sport cooperation.

Earlier in the day, Radicova was received by her Croatian counterpart, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor.
