GENEVA, March 18 (Hina) - As part of the activities of the Croatian
delegation attending a session of the UN Human Rights Commission in
Geneva, Ambassador Darko Bekic on Tuesday met the Secretary General
of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Azzedine Laraki,
the Croatian mission in Geneva said in a statement.
Laraki reiterated the OIC views from his address to the UN
Commission, regarding the tragic consequences of Serb aggression
suffered by the Bosnian Moslems, and spoke of the difficult state
of inter-ethnic relations and human rights in Kosovo and Sandzak,
two regions of southern Yugoslavia with majority Albanian and
Moslem populations respectively.
Also discussed were preparations for an extraordinary session
of heads of state and government of OIC member countries, scheduled
for March 24 in Islamabad to coincide with the 50th anniversary of
Pakistan's independence.
Croatia has been invited to attend as a guest and will be
represented by Ambassador Marijan Kombol.
Laraki said that the OIC summit would focus on the global role
and prospects of Islam on the eve of the 21st century.
