Kostovic informed Poudade about the preparations for the
forthcoming elections in the region, expressing conviction that
they would pass without incidents.
Kostovic stressed that Croatia expected the area to be fully
administratively and economically reintegrated after UNTAES troops
left on 15 July with the international supervision and respect of
commitments from the Croatian government Letter of Intent.
Kostovic said that the fate of missing persons was of crucial
importance for the re-establishment of trust and the peaceful
reintegration.
This was why talks with Belgrade and pressures on it should
continue, with the engagement of Croatia and the international
community.
Poudade expressed full support to the peaceful reintegration
process. He stressed the importance of the respect of human rights
of every citizen, expressing satisfaction with the guarantees he
had received from Croatian officials regarding the fulfillment of
commitments from the Letter of Intent.
Poudade said he was leaving full of optimism and expressed
hope that things would take a good course.
