statement on Saturday. #L#
"The SFOR vehicle, which was on a routine control, stopped at the main
intersection of the Spanish square to let a small white vehicle pass, then
proceeded east in the direction of the Tito bridge. While speeding past the
intersection, one of the occupants (of the small white vehicle) threw the
grenade at the personnel carrier (APC).
The grenade exploded approximately 10 metres behind the APC, just east
of the intersection. The APC was not in a position to return fire, but
attempted to intercept the white vehicle by turning down a side street,
which runs parallel to the old confrontation line, but without success," the
statement said.
The vehicle was not damaged and the four-member crew was not injured.
The Commander of the multinational SFOR division, Major General Yves
Le Chatelier, again condemned this act and stressed that he remained
determined to implement his mission, the statement said.
The International Police Task Force (IPTF) arrived on the scene and an
investigation was under way, the statement said.
