HDZ, HKDU ATTEND TWO-DAY EUCD MEETING IN BRUSSELS

ZAGREB, Jan 13 (Hina) - The newly-established Working Group for Central and Eastern Europe of the European Union Christian Democtats (EUCD) held a meeting in Brussels on January 9-10, the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party said in a statement on Monday. The meeting, chaired by Wiam van Velzen, was attended by about 50 participants. Croatia was represented by Tomislav Krusic, HDZ secretary for international relations, Lujo Tomcic, a member of the HDZ and former foreign minister of Austria, and Anto Kovacevic, vice president of the Croatian Christian Democratic Union (HKDU). The two-day meeting heard reports on party trends and the overall situation in new democracies. Participants expressed particular concern about the situation in the Yugoslav federation of Serbia and Montenegro.
