ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) - A Croatian delegation, that toured Brussels
and London since January 19 at an invitation of the U.S. mission to
the NATO, returned to Zagreb on Thursday evening.
During the visits in Belgium and Great Britain, the Croatian
delegation held many meetings with representatives of American
forces with the NATO.
On the first day of visit to the headquarters of the NATO
force for Europe, in the Belgian town of Mons, Croatian officials
met General Mckenzie and his associates. On that occasion, the
Croatian delegation was informed of the military and political
organization of the North Atlantic alliance.
The Croatian delegation also held several talks with NATO
highest-ranking political officials on political aspects of the
NATO and on its expansion and reorganization as well as on arms
reduction.
Croatian officials expressed their views on the NATO and on
admission of Croatia to 'the Partnership for Peace' programme.
On Wednesday the delegation toured the London-based command of
the US Navy in Europe. It visited Britain's Foreign Office and
Defence ministry outside the official protocol.
During those visits the Croatian delegation notified their
hosts of the situation in the Croatian Danubian area and
resolutions of the border problems in the Bay of Piran and
Prevlaka.
A British Foreign Office Minister, Nicholas Bonsor, voiced his
every confidence in the Republic of Croatia in solving those
problems and voiced hope that Croatia would be soon admitted to the
NATO.
The Croatian delegation, led by a Croatian Parliament Vice
President Zarko Domljan, consisted of Croatian President's advisor
Ivic Pasalic, a deputy Defence Minister, Lieutenant General
Kresimir Cosic, an assistant to the Foreign Minister, Neven Madey
and a member of the Parliament, Ivan Jakovcic.
