600 DISPLACED PERSONS VISIT THEIR VILLAGE IN E. CROATIA

OSIJEK, Jan 27 (Hina) - On Sunday 600 displaced persons visited their village of Ernestinovo which is under the Transitional Administration. They travelled to the village in 130 cars. The head of the subcommittee for the return to Ernestinovo, Zvonko Bugarin said the event passed off with no incident. He thanked the transitional police for good cooperation. Almost every displaced persons visited their homes, Bugarin said adding that they also talked with Serb residents in the village about "all current topics." Before the war there were 1,491 residents in this village outside Osijek. In 1991, 1200 Croats were expelled from Ernestinovo. According to Bugarin, there are currently 400 Serbs in the village, and 150 of them have arrived from western Slavonia and other parts of Croatia. Visits to Ernestinovo will continue to be organized. In the village an office for the issuance of the Croatian documents will open in a building renovated by the Croatian Government, on January 29. (hina) mš 271807 MET jan 97
