PLATE IN ITALIAN TAKEN OFF ISTRIAN ASSEMBLY BUILDING; FLAGS HOISTED

PAZIN, Oct 21 (Hina) - A plate carrying the name of the Istrian +County Assembly in Italian was removed on Wednesday morning from +the front of the assembly building. Subsequently Croatian and +Italian flags were hoisted.+ The Croatian Administration Ministry set to the County Prefect and +the County authorities October 20 as the final deadline for the +plate's removal.+ As the deadline expired yesterday, the plate was removed on +Wednesday morning. + Vesna Ivancic, Assembly secretary, said that flag hoisting was not +contrary to the Law, as Article 25 of the Istrian County Statute, +one of the Articles which were not annulled by the Constitutional +Court in 1995, states that the County has the right to hoist a flag +of the majority national community, in this case Italian, next to +the flag of the Croatia.+(hina) it jn/ha+
