ZAGREB, Oct 12 (Hina) - "I gave my statement regarding accusations
stated against me in interviews. Members of the Committee asked me
whether I was involved in this, and I responded briefly that I was
not," Markica Rebic told reporters on Monday after giving a
statement before the Croatian National Parliament's Lower House
Committee for Internal Affairs and National Security.
The Committee held a session on Friday with the task of
investigating into allegations of misuse and violations of the
authorities and jurisdiction of intelligence services.
The session is held behind closed doors.
Asked about the hearing, Rebic told reporters he had answered
questions posed by members of the Committee, which "were not as hard
as I expected".
Asked to comment on the resignation of Defence Minister Andrija
Hebrang, Rebic said he had not read the text of the resignation, so
he could not comment on it.
Asked whether a reason for Hebrang's resignation could be his
misunderstandings with him, Rebic said he did not think so. He
recalled that Hebrang himself stressed that he was not in conflict
with Rebic.
I cooperated well with Minister Hebrang, Rebic added.
Markica Rebic was the last to give statements before the Committee,
after President's advisors Franjo Greguric and Ivic Pasalic, and
Presidential Chief-of-Staff Hrvoje Sarinic appeared before the
Internal Affairs Committee.
