ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - In a letter to Croatian President Franjo
Tudjman, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has expressed her
satisfaction with last week's initialling of an agreement
resolving the Ploce-Neum issue.
The agreement initialled on September 9 concerns the use of
Croatia's southern port of Ploce by Bosnia-Herzegovina and
Croatia's unobstructed passage through Neum, a coastal town on
Bosnian territory which separates Dubrovnik from the rest of
Croatia.
Albright said the agreement was completely in accordance with the
Washington and Dayton agreements and offered great economic
potential.
She added it respected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of
both countries, and expressed hope the agreement would soon be
signed and ratified.
Albright also commented on her recent difficult talks in Zagreb,
emphasising that she had nothing but the best intentions towards
Croatia.
At the end of the letter to President Tudjman, Albright emphasised
she wanted to see Croatia as part of Europe, where it belonged.
