ZAGREB, Sept 9 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Wednesday received upon their request special U.S. envoy Richard
Sclar and deputy high international representative for Bosnia,
Jacques Klein.
According to a statement from the President's Office, Tudjman
expressed appreciation for the mediation the two officials had in
recent Croatian-Bosnian negotiations on the adjustment of the
status of southern Croatian port of Ploce and free passage through
Neum, Bosnia's access to the Adriatic Sea which cuts through
southern Croatia.
Croatian Economy Minister, Nenad Porges, also present, assessed
the Ploce and Neum draft agreements as acceptable.
Croatia will discuss the draft agreements following this weekend's
general election in Bosnia and the signing of an agreement on
special relations between Croatia and the Croat-Muslim Federation
of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the statement from Tudjman's Office said.
Attending today's talks were also the Croatian President's advisor
for foreign affairs Neven Madey, and the head of Tudjman's cabinet,
Gordan Radin.
Sclar and Klein were accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Croatia
William Montgomery.
