PRISTINA, Sept 8 (Hina) - Serbian forces on Tuesday morning
launched violent attacks on Donji Carabreg, Belegi, Kodralia,
Irznice, Pozare, Glodjane, and other villages towards Gramacele,
the Kosovo Information Centre (KIC) reported.
Taking part in the attacks are strong military and police forces
which left this morning from Pec towards Decane in a convoy
including 88 tanks, armoured and other vehicles.
According to the first unconfirmed reports, several Albanians were
either killed or wounded in the attacks, including children and
women.
The population was concentrated in three villages which have not
been attacked yet.
Kosovo Albanian sources confirmed that Serbian infantry forces had
already entered Irznice, a village now in flames. There are killed
and wounded in the shelled villages.
Assisted by tanks and armoured vehicles, Serbian forces this
morning began shelling Glodjane, Nepolje and other villages in
Djakovica Municipality.
According to the KIC, almost 500 Albanians, mostly women, children
and elderly, have been settled in a Catholic church in Glodjene for
six days now.
From a humanitarian point of view, the situation is very difficult,
as food resources are drastically insufficient and most refugees
sleep in the open.
Albanian sources in Kosovo capital Pristina reported that today
Serbian forces resumed attacking villages in the Drenica area.
Attacks on villages near Tica and Pluzin also resumed earlier
today. There is no information on the consequences.
Serbian forces on Kosovo have not issued any reports on today's
attacks.
