ZAGREB, Aug 27 (Hina) - The Croatian social Democratic Party (SDP)
and Liberal Party (LS) agreed on a long-term cooperation at
Thursday's meeting in Zagreb.
Presidents of the two parties, Ivica Racan (SDP) and Vlado Gotovac
(LS) invited other opposition parties for a meeting.
"I believe today's meeting will prove as extremely important for
gathering the opposition," Racan told reporters after the closed
meeting.
"Our political opponents have a reason to be concerned about what we
are doing," he said.
The SDP and LS agreed that the opposition in Croatia should draw up a
joint suggestion of the election law, the LS said in a statement.
Racan and Gotovac agreed that misunderstandings among parties
should be resolved by more frequent talks.
A meeting of six main opposition parties will take place in Zagreb
on Friday on which they should reach an agreement on amendments to
the Croatian Constitution, administrative divisions of the country
and electoral law. Party officials will also confirm their joint
appearance on elections in Dubrovnik, Gotovac announced.
