OREBIC, Aug 7 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Friday
arrived on the Peljesac peninsula in southern Croatia to see the
consequences of a disastrous fire which raged in the area over the
past two days.
Tudjman and Interior Minister Ivan Penic were welcomed by Orebic
municipal head Damir Batistic, Deputy Premier and Finance Minister
Borislav Skegro, commander of the Croatian army's Fourth military
district Major General Milivoj Petkovic and a government
commissioner for Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Luka Siljeg.
The Croatian President and his associates first visited Perna,
where the fire had been put out, and the severely burned Kuciste and
Viganj, where Batistic provided a detailed account of the damage
done by the fire.
Tudjman also visited the Dalmatin family, whose daughter Elena was
killed in the fire.
