PRIZNA, August 1 (Hina) - Traffic congestion on the Lika highway
late Saturday morning has caused a build up of 20km-long convoys
heading towards Dalmatia, a Croatian region on the central and
southern Adriatic.
An accident occurred at about 10am on one section of the main road
through the central Lika region, resulting in a slow down in
traffic.
The Senj-Karlobag-Zadar section of the Adriatic tourist road has
also experienced long convoys of mostly foreign-registered
vehicles, especially from Slovenia and Italy.
In order to avoid delays, Croatian traffic police have recommended
motorists heading towards central Dalmatia use mainland roads
towards Karlobag and Zadar, instead of via the island of Pag,
because of long waiting times on car ferry wharves.
The vehicle convoy from coastal roads towards the ferry wharf in
Prizna is often long and backs up for several kilometres, while the
wait for the ferry is several hours long.
