According to a statement from the HZ, the E Maersk Group, an international container ship operator, sent a CMA CGM Maupassant vessel with containers to the Port of Rijeka and after that the cargo was unloaded onto a 491.3-metre-long unit-train with gross mass of 1,238 tonnes. This block-train, set up on 5 September, departed from Rijeka to Budapest where it arrived in the morning of 7 September. The journey took 35 hours and 40 minutes.
According to the interest expressed by other customers of the HZ, the Croatian company will operate such block-trains to Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and this job will put the Port of Rijeka on an equal footing with other north Adriatic seaports.
