ZAGREB, July 20 (Hina) - Zagreb will starting this Wednesday host
the 32nd International Folklore Revue which features village
folklore from Croatian counties, Croat folklore in Bosnia and
folklore in eight other countries.
Closing on July 26, the revue will focus on the revival of folklore
associations in war-ravaged villages of Croatia. The revue's motto
is "We Are Reviving the Heritage".
Folklore associations will be revived in ten villages which
suffered heavy destruction during the Serbian aggression on
Croatia, organising committee member Zorica Vitez told reporters
in Zagreb on Monday.
The revue will begin with a discussion on the revival and a video
screening. A concert of ethnic music will also be held on
Wednesday.
The revue will be held in Zagreb's Old Town, the downtown Ban
Jelacic Square and in front of the Cathedral.
Folklore associations will arrive from Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway,
Portugal, Russia and Senegal.
For the first time the revue will feature a course in domestic and
foreign folklore for applicants from Croatia and abroad.
The revue is organised by the Zagreb Concert Directorate, under the
auspices of the Croatian Ministries of Culture and Reconstruction
and Development.
