WASHINGTON, July 17 (Hina) - The leaders of B'nai B'rith, an
influential Jewish association, will arrive in Croatia later this
month to exert stronger pressure on the Croatian Government before
the beginning of a trial against Dinko Sakic.
Sakic was the commander of Jasenovac, a World War Two concentration
camp in Croatia, who was recently extradited from Argentina.
According to a statement from the association's seat in Washington,
the international president of B'nai B'rith Tommy P. Baer will
arrive in Croatia in late July to make sure that the Croatian
Government leave no stone unturned in the forthcoming Sakic trial.
Baer's arrival in Croatia is the continuation of a three-year
investigation into finding and bringing Sakic, the last living
commander of a Nazi death camp, to justice, said the statement.
We will continue putting pressure on the Croatian Government not to
oversee any evidence and to use any available source and witness
around the world in this significant trial, the statement added.
Baer and associates also intend to meet with the Croatian President
and other high Croatian officials, witnesses at the Sakic trial and
representatives of the Croatian Jewish Union.
